Oliver Chen, Ph.D., is the Director of Nutrition Science and Biostatistics at Biofortis Research, Mérieux NutriSciences, where he leads clinical trials testing the safety, tolerance, and health benefits of foods, nutraceuticals, and dietary ingredients. Dr. Chen has an extensive range of research experience in food and nutrition – from fundamental nutrient characterization and development of sophisticated analytic methodologies for disease/health markers to exploration of underlying mechanistic actions and to leading human trials providing defensible translational evidence, particularly in the area of gastrointestinal and cardiometabolic health and cognitive and exercise performance. Before joining Biofortis, Dr. Chen was an Interim Director of the Antioxidants Research Laboratory at the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging and an Associate Professor in the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University. He received the Mary Swartz Rose Young Investigator Award from the American Society for Nutrition. Dr. Chen also serves as Associate/Academic Editor of several food/nutrition journals and has published more than 130 original scientific articles and reviews. He received his Ph.D. in Human Nutrition and Exercise from Virginia Tech and did his postdoctoral research at Tufts University.
